The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 for 2009

The Chevrolet Corvette has long been a vehicle of legendary proportions. People have lined up for miles to drive one, they make extraordinary sacrifices to own one, and they’re willing to drive their cars to top speeds normally unheard of behind the wheel of one.

There have been some classic Corvettes in the past, with many an iconic model filling the showrooms of previous years. The one question that any car company worth its salt asks in light of such an extravagant history is: how do we top it now? And Chevrolet has certainly asked that question time and time again, with each incarnation of the Corvette looking to build on top of what many consider to be perfection.

Enter the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Is it perfect? Maybe. The ZR1 has a story, a soul, and a spirit. It also has a tremendous 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque from its 6.2-liter LS9, OHV 16-valve, supercharged, intercooled V8 engine with sequential fuel injection. Sound good so far? Power junkies will absolutely love this car, no question about it.

When Rick Wagoner came to Chevrolet car makers with a dream of making a Corvette with top-notch performance to follow up the 2001-proposed Z06 Corvette and said that he wanted an even higher budget and even more power, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 was the result.

The Corvette Limousine

Few things get noticed more readily on the street than a shiny new Chevrolet Corvette. The sleek curves and unmistakable look constantly get people looking at the American sports car.

One of the things that can turn heads just as readily, though: the limosine. A limosine conjures images of high-rolling, poweful people, out for a night on the town. It makes you think of movie stars on the red carpet, or extremely wealthy people.

Well now, the two head-turners can be found in one place: the stretched Chevrolet Corvette Limousine.

There are several places around the country that have customized Corvettes and made them into stretch Limos. In most cases, these vehicles are available for rent. If you want a night on the town where you’ll get noticed, get into one of these babies and you’re certain to get some stares.

Now, Corvette limos aren’t exactly as big as, say, a Cadillac limo or a Hummer limo. The longest of the Corvette limousines measures just 23 feet – very long for a Corvette, but in the middle range for limos.

but apparently the longest Corvette limousines are ‘just’ seven meters long (23 feet).

2008 Muscle Car of the Year

For those of you who love the roar of the engine and the smoke from the tires, Chevrolet’s Corvette is probably the be-all end-all of muscle cars. The Chevrolet car is legendary, even in the Middle East where the legend won the award from Middle East Car magazine for Best Muscle Car of 2008.

Phillip Moore, the publishing director of Middle East Car magazine
explained: “The Corvette 2008 is saucy, powerful, and thrilling to
drive. Everything about it is a treat, including, and we’ll come back
to earth for a minute, the reasonable maintenance costs.”

The Chevrolet car finished ahead of the Dodge Charger and the Ford Mustang, picking up the award for the second consecutive year from the magazine.

The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette is available in three different models: the Coupe, the Convertible, and the big bad Z06, which features a terrifying 7.0-litre LS7 V8 engine rumbling away under the hood. For those brave enough to fill up one of these bad boys, the Corvette can be a pretty sweet treat. The rest of us will have to sit back and dream of the rumbling engine and the squealing tires.

In terms of the future, Chevrolet has big plans. A supercharged ZR1 models is prepping to join the ranks in 2009. The ZR1 will feature 638 horsepower and will rank as the most powerful Corvettes ever made. Chevy cars will have a lot of encouragement from the new Corvette, so start watching your dealership for changes in the coming weeks and months to reflect the new arrival.
