1. Check your state’s department of insurance website. Every state has a department of insurance that logs complaints for the various companies in the state. This will give you a good idea about each company’s reputation and what other consumers are saying about it.
2. Contact local body shops. Talk with body shops you would deal with to see which insurance companies they recommend. They regularly interact with several companies each day and they will usually have a good idea about the companies you should use.
3. Check with independent agents. Since they work with various companies, too, they can give you an idea about which one will serve your needs the best.

These are just a few things to keep in mind when choosing an insurance company for your Chevrolet cars. Of course, you also have to follow your instinct and do your homework to find the best one for you.

The new guidelines call for every vehicle in the state of New Jersey to “achieve average fuel economy of 40.5 miles per gallon by 2016.” That’s all well and good, but some people are complaining because the state’s officials are not leading by example. In fact, the state’s Department of Purchasing is “accepting bids next week to buy a fleet that includes big SUVs with fuel economy that barely escapes single digits.”

This whole process is part of the automaker’s Project Driveway, a program in which automakers are trying to make fuel cell vehicles available to the general public. The program began in October of last year and officials plan to continue it until 2010. “The vehicles are performing very well and we are learning a great deal about fuel cell robustness and how to make this program work for real customers,” said GM’s director of fuel cell commercialization. So far, more than 3,400 people have driven these efficient Chevrolet cars as part of media events or other occasions. Could you be next?

• Know the store’s policy. Each store has different policies regarding returns. It’s frustrating to wait in line for hours and find out you need the receipt that you don’t have.
• Some stores may charge a restocking fee. This is usually a percentage of the price of the item that you will not get back. This usually applies to big-ticket items and electronics.
• Some things simply cannot be returned. Find out about things such as intimate apparel and some other clothing items.
• Save the packing materials and anything else that comes with your merchandise for fewer problems when returning merchandise.
• Return the items in a timely manner. Most stores have a 30 or 90 day return policy. Remember that if there’s something you want to return.

Earlier this year, bloggers were going crazy talking about the soaring gas prices. I’ll admit…I was one of them. But you don’t see too many news stories these days about the gas prices going down, do you? Your Chevy dealerships want to report the good news as well as the bad, so we’re going to look at the lowering fuel prices and what it means for you and your Chevrolet cars.

The main reason for the drop in gas prices is the price of a barrel of oil. In July, this price hit an all-time high at $147.27 for a barrel. This brought gas prices up to an average of $4.11 per gallon. In the last five months though, the price of a barrel of oil has gone down more than 70 percent! Combine that with lower demand for gas and other factors and it’s very possible that prices could go back to the 1999 prices of about a buck for a gallon of gas.

I’m always for lower prices. But even if gas prices don’t go back down to a dollar a gallon, I wouldn’t complain about where the prices are at right now. Where I live, I’m paying about $1.70 for a gallon and I would expect prices to be a little higher than they were in 1999. But I certainly won’t complain if they drop even more.

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is an electric car. It’s as simple as that. But there’s more. First of all, it’s the first electric car produced by General Motors. As a result, GM has something to prove in order to corner the market for this type of vehicle. From the way it looks, the automaker has accomplished its goal.

From looking at the new Volt, you wouldn’t know it was an electric vehicle. It doesn’t have that funky futuristic appeal to it like most other electric vehicles. In fact, it looks like a normal sport sedan model. That way, you don’t have to worry about people looking at your funny in your Volt because they probably won’t even know it’s an electric car.

On the inside of the Volt, you’ll find several modern features that you simply can’t resist. A seven-inch LCD instrument panel displays everything you need to know while you’re driving. There is also a touch-screen panel for controlling the climate and entertainment features. With all of this, how could you ask for anything more?

The CEO of General Motors – Rick Wagoner – decided to do just that. Instead of enduring the questions from Congress about taking a private jet to the meeting this time, he decided to take a road trip to the nation’s capital in one of the automaker’s fuel-efficient vehicles. His car of choice: the Chevrolet Malibu hybrid.

Wagoner is just one of several officials involved with the automotive industry that is appearing before Congress to make the case for a bailout.

The drive from Detroit to Washington, D.C. is about 10 hours depending on traffic and weather along the way. However, a spokesperson for General Motors said they would not announce when Wagoner was leaving or if he was stopping along the way for security reasons. “There’s a lot of security concerns. There’s also the idea of a circus that we’re trying to avoid,” said the spokesperson.
